A downloadable game for Windows

About Me

Hello, my name is Antonio Manuel.

I am a student at Barnfield College studying a UAL-graded Level 3 Extended Creative Media Production (Game Design). I have gone through an extensive journey in my course and learned a lot of useful things such as designing games, idea/concept formation, modelling, a bit of character animation, and making the game logic (or programming). I have created The Roots of Riches as the final project of my college academic year. Here is the relevant information you need to know about my project.

Abstract

This is a small game prototype for a dungeon-based puzzle-platformer inspired by The Great Deku Tree LOZ Ocarina of Time, Uncharted 4, and Tomb Raider. The game is set in an ancient temple within a giant tree stump. The narrative focus of the game is about the wrongfulness of greed and stealing what isn't yours. This sort of storyline pairs well with the dungeon-platformer genre. I've chosen this project idea because it is easy for me to implement while at the same time doing my best to make it look as good as possible. The golden statuettes and the gem are inspired from various photographs I have taken at the V&A Museum. When making this game, I have made sure to prioritise the effective execution of the story down to the puzzles and interactive elements, as well as an audio-recorded poem.

How to Play

You have to traverse rows  of platforms making sure to avoid the pressure plates that triggers a barrage arrows. You will be presented with three artefacts, but make sure to choose the correct one or else the temple will explode immediately. Once you have acquired the correct artefact, you must make your way back place on a pedestal near the entrance. A door will open rewarding you with the path to freedom.

I would appreciate any feedback or critiques you might have with my project. Please be sure to comment down below on this project page.
